In March 2022, AAHA conducted background research and a historic structures report on the Nike Missile Battery W-92 and its relationship to the City of Gaithersburg and Project Nike. The Nike Missile Battery W-92 was constructed during the Cold War as part of a preventative initiative to defend American cities from Soviet bombers and was active from 1954 to 1974. The historic structures report included an extensive analysis of the history, cultural context, and current conditions of the facility.
