In March 2022, AAHA assisted in the restoration of the Benson Family Cemetery in Severn, Maryland. The locations of headstones previously identified by AAHA in 2005 during a Phase I archaeological survey were re-established using advanced mapping techniques. The actual replacement of the headstones was supervised by AAHA staff to ensure accuracy for the original internment locations. AAHA also consulted with Anne Arundel County and the project proponent in final above ground restoration, including vegetation and fencing, to restore the cemetery to a period appropriate setting.
