Cultural resources compliance projects often contain requirements for recordation, treatment, and evaluation of above ground, extant resources. AAHA’s architectural history service sector is dedicated to planning and treatment of a wide variety of historic structures, landscapes, and traditional cultural places. Our projects strive to determine the original construction techniques and time periods, modifications through time, integrity, and significance of each historic resource.
In consultation with a broad group of specialists, our architectural history group works to create comprehensive solutions to project requirements that often include extensive consultation with large groups of stakeholders, including local, state, and federal agencies, local interest groups, and communities. Each of our investigations is designed to balance the requirements of the project with stakeholder involvement to arrive at an inclusive outcome. Our architectural history service sector includes:
- Architectural history surveys
- Viewshed studies
- State and local architectural history survey requirements (MIHP Documentation)
- Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) and Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) studies and documentation
- Determination of Eligibility (DOE) studies
- Historic structure reports
- National Register of Historic Places Recordation and Nominations
