In 2019, AAHA conducted historic background research on nine properties in the village of Aquasco. Aquasco developed at a crossroads west of the Patuxent River in the early nineteenth century. Through historic maps, aerial photographs, land records, and census records, AAHA was able to trace the history of these properties and help chart the development of the village, which harbored a strong historic African American community centered on a school and two churches.
