AAHA conducted a Phase I cultural resources survey at the East Cemetery Hill Tract in Adams County, Pennsylvania. The investigation was conducted within a small parcel that may have been included in the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863 on behalf of the American Battlefield Trust in anticipation of the acquisition of a preservation easement on the property. The built environment of the parcel in combination with the archaeologically sensitive nature of the property within the battlefield required a multi-disciplinary approach to fieldwork, including excavation of short-interval STPs augmented by a systematic metal detection survey.  Little cultural material was recovered as a result of the survey other than modern refuse and no evidence of Civil War-related occupation was identified.  As a result, no additional archaeological investigation is recommended.
