In 2020, AAHA conducted a Phase IA investigation of the property occupied by the Maryland Department of Legislative Services office at 90 State Circle in historic downtown Annapolis. By examining primary and secondary historic documents, land records, and historic maps, AAHA determined that the property housed one of Maryland’s colonial governors in 1695 and had contained multiple houses, a beautiful Methodist church, and the Court of Appeals building before the modern office was built in the 1970s.
